My First Mate

General note

In most destinations where you will sail, you can find many of the things you need. Try to think for yourselves what is important to bring from home and what can wait to be purchased/rented at the destination. This is a sailing vacation, so most of the day you will be in swimwear, pack accordingly.

  • Keep in mind that even at the peak of summer, nights can sometimes be cool.
  • Make sure to always have some cash with you
  • If you take special medications, are sensitive to seasickness, or have allergies, make sure you have the necessary medical supplies with you
  • Try to pack in a soft, foldable bag that is easy to roll and store on the boat (space is limited)
  • Chargers for phones/tablets/laptops + suitable adapters are always needed (some boats still have car cigarette lighter sockets in addition to USB)
  • If sailing with babies, don’t forget the relevant equipment for them (see suggested list below)
  • If you plan to bring a drone, check the local regulations in the sailing area in advance
  • Fishing equipment can usually be rented from the charter company unless you prefer to use your own gear
  • As a rule, you will always use fewer clothes than you think 😊 and in the worst case you can do laundry in many places or on the boat itself
  • It is important to check what is already available on the boat before purchasing additional equipment (for example, clothespins, knives, etc.)
